Common Ground Therapy is a proud member of the River City Pride Business Alliance! For businesses, they offer incredible networking opportunities, a professional listing in their Pride Directory, and really fulfilling connections within the community. For those who aren’t members, the Pride Directory can be a really helpful tool when searching for local affirming businesses. Their websites says it best, “Supporting inclusive businesses strengthens visibility, fosters belonging, and supports a local economy rooted in diversity. RCPBA helps connect businesses with each other and with the community, making it easier for people to find and support affirming local businesses.”
Greater Evansville Youth Powered by IYG offers a safe haven for local queer youth. Their center brings joy, community, and connection for both age groups of 12-19 and 18-24. I have had the honor of taking a tour of this facility, and let me tell you… The vibes are immaculate! It makes me proud to live in a city offering such an incredible gift to it’s young people. They offer case management services, a food pantry, a HUGE clothing closet, hygiene products, game nights, craft nights, hot meals, and a safe space to simply be. If you are not someone eligible for these services, but also see the importance of this work, there are plenty of different ways to volunteer or donate as well!
This one is very near and dear to my heart. Albion Fellows Bacon Center is Southern Indiana’s leading advocate for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. They serve survivors of domestic and sexual violence, human trafficking, and stalking in the following counties: Vanderburgh, Posey, Warrick, Spencer, Perry, Dubois, Gibson, Pike, Orange, Crawford, and Harrison. While they are most known for their incredible emergency shelter, they also provide crisis intervention, advocacy services, support groups, and community education and prevention. I first learned about Albion almost 9 years ago, and it’s been an honor to help serve their mission in multiple capacities since.
